Who Are We?: The Adventist Christian Fellowship

Jesus Saves

Adventist Christian Fellowship, or ACF for short, is an officially recognized student organization at Texas A&M with the goal of promoting the culture and values of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. We are at once the face of Adventism to the campus of A&M, the face of A&M to the global Church, a meeting place for students sympathetic to Adventist culture, and a tool to further God's Kingdom on Earth.

Our mission as a student organization is

  • To provide the opportunity to become acquainted with and enjoy the fellowship of students, staff, and faculty who hold membership or have interest in the culture and values of the Seventh-day Adventist Church;
  • To promote spiritual and intellectual growth (both personal and corporate);
  • To encourage and involve members in personal service and evangelistic outreach for others.

You can read our official Constitution here.

Are There SDAs At Texas A&M?

Sometimes it's really hard being a Seventh-day Adventist at a large public university. Football games on Sabbath morning, parties, Friday night yell practice and study sessions, drinking, drugs, secular worldviews and sexual immorality hammer the Adventist Aggie nearly every day. So far from home and SDA culture, you might wake up one morning wondering where you forgot your Adventist roots, and while you ponder your alienation in a student body that does not understand your religious culture the irony of the contrast between the Churches and the bars of Northgate fails to escape you. But you are not alone.

We are here for you.

What do we do?

We are aggies who also happen to be SDA or interested in SDA values and culture. We get together quite a bit for informal social interaction. (See the "upcoming events" section of the News page!) This is perhaps the most important part of our mission: to build a faith community among students, staff and faculty of A&M. We encourage each other and learn from each other. We share concerns, fears, and failures. We share dreams and questions, hopes and plans.

We also love to feed each other.

And we give each other rides to church!

There are a few more substantial/concrete activities we hope to pull off in the future. Keep an eye on the News page for more on upcoming events and activies.

How do I get involved?

The only requirement for membership is an interest in the culture and values of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. (No, you don't have to be an Adventist!) Just send us your name and email!

We would love to hang with you. The nearest church is super-close, too. (Here's a map.) It's called the Three Angels Bryan/College Station Seventh-day Adventist Church. Need a ride from campus? Drop us a line!

What is our theology?

Seventh-day Adventist Christians believe that faith in Jesus Christ is our only hope for salvation, and our salvation comes by grace through this faith in Christ alone. We live our lives in response to God's gift of His son.

Our moral values and our distinctive culture spring naturally from our theology. If you want the nitty-gritty details of what Seventh-day Adventists believe, you can read all about it here. (In particular, check out the Fundamental Beliefs of the SDA Church.)

Of course, you don't have to subscribe to every detail of our theology to be a part of ACF. We are open to anyone--even those with divergent theological views--who is committed to our values of purity, integrity, education, Bible study and seeking after God's face.
